It might feel gritty and strange but this treatment is often used to remove stains and plaque for those with sensitivity or heavy stains.

The benefits of air polishing include the following:
-
Comfortable
-
Easy to get to the hard-to-reach areas, such as the biting surfaces of the teeth and in-between the teeth. Around misaligned teeth
-
Less abrasive on the enamel & the gums
-
Superior stain removal, caused by tannins in food & drink (tea, coffee, turmeric, beetroot, iron supplementation, smoking, red wine & chlorhexidine).

**Not suitable for asthmatics or patients suffering with COPD or other respiratory conditions**
If you have been diagnosed with an aggressive form of periodontal disease known as periodontitis, where there is destruction to the underlying tissues; dental bone & ligaments that hold the teeth in their socket a longer appointment is needed to fully debride the area.
This will consist of 1-4 appointments depending on how many teeth are involved.

What is included?
- Plaque & Bleeding Scores
- Measurements of periodontal pockets, gum recession & mobility
- Periodontal Therapy (root debridement)
- Anaesthesia - with or without Injection
- Diagnosis
**If you have a diagnosis of generalised periodontitis you may be offered a referral to a specialist periodontist. We often start with treatment from a hygienist and if we do not get the desired outcome we want we would offer a referral to a specialist periodontist. Our chosen practice of choice for referrals is UKDS in Chiswell Green. The link to there website can be found here
